RICHARD T. SCRUGHAM, JR. -
practices in the area of general civil litigation, workers' compensation law, personal injury litigation, insurance, products liability, and appellate. He is a native of Knoxville and received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Duke University in 1993. After completing the R.O.T.C. program at Duke, Mr. Scrugham entered the United States Navy where he served for four years as an intelligence officer. After leaving the military in 1997 as a Lieutenant, Mr. Scrugham returned to Knoxville and entered the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he received his law degree in 2000. While in law school, he was a member of UT's National Trial Team.
Mr. Scrugham became associated in the practice of law with Frantz, McConnell & Seymour, LLP in 2002.
He became a member of the firm in 2009. He is currently admitted to the bar in Tennessee, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Mr. Scrugham is a member of the Knoxville and Tennessee Bar Associations and the Defense Research Institute.
