ARTHUR G. SEYMOUR, JR. -
practices in the area of zoning and land use law, municipal and government relations, general civil litigation, contract and real estate law. He has practiced law with Frantz, McConnell & Seymour, LLP since 1971. During his practice, he has tried cases in state and federal court throughout East Tennessee and in courts in Middle Tennessee and appeared before the Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court numerous times. He has tried civil cases of almost every description. He has also appeared before zoning commissions, zoning boards and local governmental bodies in Middle and East Tennessee representing clients in land use matters. He has also appeared before governmental administrative bodies of almost every description.
For many years, he has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America and was recently recognized by the Tennessee Business Magazine as on of the 101 best lawyers in the State of Tennessee. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a member of the Tennessee Bar Foundation, the Knoxville Bar Foundation, the International Association of Defense Council and also the National Association of Railroad Trial Council.
In addition to his practice, he has been active in the community, having served as a member of the Board of Directors, President and Counsel for the East Tennessee Historical Society for thirty years. He has been a member of the Knoxville Symphony Society, the Board of Trustees of the Knoxville/Knox County Public Library System, and a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority. He served as president of that body during the time it planned and constructed a new terminal at McGhee Tyson Airport. He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of the South.
Mr. Seymour was educated in the public schools in Knoxville and then attended and graduated from the University of the South in 1966. After graduation, he returned to the University of Tennessee and received a J.D. in 1969. After two years in the United States Army, he returned to Knoxville where he has been in practice with Frantz, McConnell & Seymour, LLP.
